The Philadelphia and Denver issues may lack the sharp details of the earliest issues of the series, but the coins are obtainable in gem mint state with Full Bell Lines. Untoned, brilliant uncirculated pieces can be particularly attractive for this date.
The 1952-S Franklin Half Dollar had the lowest mintage of the three circulation issues and is typically found weakly struck. Examples which display full bell lines are in the minority and command a premium.
Proof coins were struck at the Philadelphia Mint with a total issuance of 81,890 sets. As with the previous two years, the proof half dollars most commonly have a brilliant finish. Any coins displaying cameo or deep cameo contrast are rare and command a premium.
